The Future of Coney Island: Astroland or Vacant Land?
Thor Equities: Thanks for 2008---Please Keep Astroland Open!

Petition to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Congressman Jerrold Nadler, State Senator Diane Savino, Councilman Domenic M. Recchia, Jr., Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny, New York City Economic Development Corporation, Coney Island Development Corporation, and Mr. Joseph Sitt:

All efforts must be made to ensure that Astroland is allowed to re-open for the 2009 season!

Since its opening forty-six years ago, Astroland - New York's largest and oldest amusement park - has been the birthplace of many a cherished memory for those young and old. It has become synonymous with Coney Island and an icon of the community's skyline and landscape. If Astroland is forced to close its doors on September 7, 2008, it will result in the loss of three-hundred and seventy jobs. Furthermore, our community, along with all of Brooklyn and New York City, will lose yet another piece of our history and heritage. By our signature, we agree with Brian L. Gotlieb and demand that all necessary steps be taken to ensure that Astroland is allowed to re-open for the 2009 season.
